The Art of Earth and Ore

A Breath of Creativity

About Me
My entire life I have been a creative. Drawing, painting, sculpture and culinary arts have always spoken to my soul from as early as I can remmeber. As humans are ment to be creative and make things with our hands. It connects us to the earth and one another.

I studied Art Education and Studio Art at Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt). My studies there solidified my love for my creative practice in ceramics- a passion that started in high shcool. It also introduced me to my love of metal smithing and jewelry fabricaton. I adore both of these mediums for the technical and conceptual challenges each of them presents. Following earing my BA in Arts Education I attained my teaching credential from San Francisco State.

For the last decade my creative practice has been devoted to art educaion in the Hayward community. I have been teaching in Hayward Unified school district for the last 10 years and counting. I love teaching high school art, and I care deeply about each of my students. One of my main goals as an educator is to teach students to be inquisitive, cognizant, and critical of the world around them through the process of creating and critiquing art and visual culture. I have been an educator in Hayward Unified School district, happily working with the fine young artist of Mt. Eden High School since 2013 and I look forward to continuing my work with the Mt. Eden and Hayward community.
